SpinalCyte receives US patent for spinal disc tissue engineering

SpinalCyte has been issued US Patent number 9,320,776, “Methods And Compositions For Repair Of Cartilage Using An In Vivo Bioreactor.”
The technology described in the patent involves a device which is a resorbable and biodegradable structure that can be permeable to oxygen but hermetic to fluids.  Also claimed in the patent is the device having outer biodegradable membrane that encompasses nutrients and/or growth factors.

“Our current portfolio includes 12 US and foreign patents issued and directly owned by the company, along with 38 patents pending,” says Pete O’Heeron, chief executive officer for SpinalCyte.
