NASS Annual Meeting ExhibitionThe North American Spine Society (NASS) has cancelled its 35th Annual Meeting, which had been due to take place in San Diego, USA, between 7–10 October due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The event will instead transition to a virtual platform, official dates and a full schedule of which have yet to be confirmed.

NASS explained the decision in a post on its website, in which it said: “NASS has been in discussions for some time to address the challenges of hosting a meeting at the San Diego Convention Center and the related hotels. However, California is not ready to host on-site meetings of our magnitude.”

The virtual event, it said, would “deliver outstanding scientific research and education, as well as provide participants with opportunities to engage in chats and review industry’s latest offerings”.

The post notes that all abstracts, including podium presentations, ePosters, poster grand rounds, and research grant award winners accepted to the 2020 Annual Meeting will now be presented virtually as ePosters. Those selected as best papers, which will be presented as part of the scientific programme for the virtual event. All abstracts, including Best Papers, will be accessible through Kubify, where attendees will be able to interact directly with authors.

Full details can be found on the NASS website.
