The first US surgical operation using the Rosa Spine system (MedTech) has been performed at Miami Valley Hospital (Dayton, USA).
Miami Valley Hospital was the first US site to acquire Rosa Spine, following US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance in January 2016.
The operation was performed by Juan Torres-Reveron, a neurosurgeon at the hospital. The patient presented with symptoms associated with ongoing lumbar and leg pain, and was treated with a spinal fusion procedure.
Rosa Spine was granted FDA clearance in January 2016, after receiving CE mark in 2014. Medtech’s Rosa Brain received FDA approval in 2012 and is currently in use in 29 US facilities.
