Interventional Spine has announced that Rudolf Morgenstern, director and chief surgeon, Morgenstern Institute for Endoscopic Spine Surgery at Centro Medico Teknon, Barcelona, Spain, and David Greenwald, Flagler Brain and Spine Institute of St Augustine, Florida, USA, will present the PerX360 system at the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS) annual meeting in Barcelona, Spain.
According to a company release, the PerX360 is the first and only system in the world capable of providing surgeons the ability to perform a percutaneous interbody fusion via two incisions that are less than 15mm each for the treatment of lumbar discogenic pain. Morgenstern was a major contributor to the design of the PerX360 system and an early adopter of the technology. He implanted the first patient, soon after the system achieved CE certification in April 2011. His presentation will include nine months of patient data and details of the surgical technique he developed.
Greenwald will be presenting his initial patient data from his first implant of the Opticage in the United States performed on 8 March 2012.
To date, 17 patients have benefitted from the PerX360 technology with excellent clinical results and significant drops in pain scores.
The presentation will take place at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya on Wednesday, 21 March.
