DeGen Medical has launched the F1 MPS modular pedicle screw system for thoraco-lumbar spine. The F1 MPS system is the first to market the modular pedicle screw with cobalt-chrome alloy head.

The system addresses a wide range of surgical options, pre-assembled or modular screws, straight or curved rods, and titanium or cobalt-chrome rods. It allows the surgeon intra-operative flexibility for bone grafting and screw placement. The screw thread is specifically engineered to combine the option for standard or cortical screw placement.

The first two-level posterior lumbar fusion surgery was performed by Daniel Williams at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, USA. “The modularity of the F1 MPS system makes it easier to visualise structures, allows for less muscle damage and better preparation of fusion bed for faster recovery. Being a modular system it is designed with simplicity of instrumentation for the surgeon and the techs, and, that is what makes it unique,” said Williams.

DeGen Medical’s chief executive officer Craig Black said, “To meet the needs of the patient and surgeon is the goal of the company. The team has worked hard to provide surgeons with less invasive lumbar fusion procedures and achieve better patient outcomes”.
