Camber Spine has named Edward Vresilovic—a man with more than 36 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery—as its new chief medical officer.

A board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon, Vresilovic most recently practiced with UPMC Orthopaedic Specialists of Central Pennsylvania (Lancaster, USA).

He was previously professor at the department of orthopaedics and rehabilitation at Penn State College of Medicine (Hershey, USA) as well as chief of spine service in the department of orthopaedic surgery at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre (Boston, USA) and PENN’s Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA).

Camber Spine co-founder and CEO, Daniel Pontecorvo, said: “We are excited to have a widely respected and esteemed surgeon of Vresilovic’s calibre on our team at Camber Spine. His track record of innovation and patient results speaks for itself.

“His clinical expertise will assist us in a myriad of roles including overseeing our medical and scientific advisory boards; guiding the direction and oversight of our clinical studies; assisting in development of product portfolio strategies; assisting with the education of physicians on anatomy, surgical procedures and the efficacy of our products and techniques; and many other key roles that are sure to boost Camber Spine to the next level of excellence.”

After graduating from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA) in 1985, he did his residency in orthopaedic surgery at PENN. He followed this training with fellowships in joint reconstruction at Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, USA) and spinal disorders at UCSD (San Diego, USA). He has maintained an active educational and research career with more than 100 peer-reviewed original papers, and ten patents.

“I was drawn to Camber Spine due not only to its highly innovative products, but also, the strong team who makes the company what it is today,” said Vresilovic. “For example, with its game-changing OLIF portfolio, Camber has become a procedural innovator, empowering clinicians to explore a wider variety of approaches to treatment. I’m proud to become part of a company dedicated to developing innovative solutions to complex surgical needs and look forward to contributing to the organisation’s growth.”
