This video from the University Medical Centre Utrecht, the Netherlands, shows how 3D bioprinting of a living bone construct can be used for more effective spinal fusion in the treatment of a collapsed vertebra. The printed construct contains areas with bone forming cells and areas for vascularisation. Blood vessel ingrowth is improved by introducing vasculogenic cells placed in the central canals.
